PLDT, Smart Response to Volcanic Alert
PLDT and Smart Communications are on high alert as Kanlaon Volcano reaches Alert Level 2, ready to provide communication support amidst the recent eruption and ongoing monitoring by PHIVOLCS.
PLDT and wireless unit Smart Communications are on standby as the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) raises Kanlaon Volcano to Alert level 2.
“Our teams are on alert and monitoring the situation, while we have prepositioned facilities to address communication needs,” said Cathy Yang, PLDT and Smart group corporate communications head.
PHIVOLCS raised Kanlaon to Alert Level 2 following a volcanic eruption that produced a 5,000-meter plume on June 3, 2024, at 6:51 p.m. The public is advised to heed warnings and protect themselves from volcanic emissions.
